Just Say No..?

I have a compulsion I admit ..
Sometimes I just wont say no ..
perhaps I should.
Yesterday evening a gardener friend of mine rolled up in his van ..
I got something in the back thats right up your alley..
So ..a fiver changed hands ..simply because he needed to cover petrol ..
I'm sure I got my fivers worth ...but did notice straight away a large crack in the dish surface ...exposing an laminated mesh..
The pole was good as was the dish tripod ..and was curious about the mount/motor.
..which...

The tree is gone!

Well, one of them.... At my parents' place, the Fibo 120 was getting obscured by a large tree, blocking most of signal between 20e and 40e. Yesterday, I was happy to see that it was chopped down by the neighbours!

There's still a pine tree but this isn't as bad as the other one was and I am hopeful that it will be coming down soon too.

Might re-deploy the Fibo now for those eastern sats - especially with the new satellites coming in at 40e, that I can't see with my 1.5m Gibby at my place....

Only just got out of bed where I spent from around 4AM till now huddled under the duvet listing to banshees..
At about 2AM I was outside in the rain and wind trying to improvise a method of stopping Carl from shaking himself to pieces..
It aint easy wrestling ladders around in the dark and gale force winds with MS..
The clothes I was wearing are still soaking wet in the bath..
That was as strong if not stronger than the winds that felled Christina some years ago.

Help with multiswitching

Gents,

I've spent quite some time now on trying to solve this and the result is little luck and an overwhelming amount of confusion.

I have a dual lnb pointing at nss6 @ 95e(dishtv). My goal is to be able to receive signal on 6 devices.

Signal locked, lines in. Direct line into receiver works well. The disco starts when i plug 13v/18v into 2x6 switch and power on more then 1 device. As soon as second device powers on, the picture on the first starts to break.

I've been reading this forum...

Dish motor has a problem!

HELLO EVERYONE

Today I used my motorised sat for the first time in a couple of months. But all is not well. My 23.5E vanished without trace so I rescanned....only to pick up 26E. In fact, all of them are the same. I have an awful feeling that one of the cogs inside the motor has jumped a couple of teeth. It's all out of whack. Each sat is about 2.5 degrees out. The reason is up here, where I live, we get very strong winds and my system has been hammered by the wind these last months. I...

Hi, I have always used a set top box to peak signals and set my dishes up, and thought it was time to see how far i am out doing it this way, I ended up ordering three but only one has turned up, I know the 1.2 is slightly out at the moment, I will see if i can get it any better setting it up the proper way,

I know this one is accurate to 0.5 but it has to be better than guess work that I have used in the past:).

Possible Faulty Technomate 5402HD box?

HELLO ALL

Well this is just unreal!!! I decided to try a different non-HD Technomate box on the motor this afternoon and it appears to drive the dish to the location I want. I have put in a few satellites with only minor tweaks to the dish position. Not like on my current 5402 HD where you have to hold the button for ages to make it move anywhere. I think the prime suspect is my HD box. Something (I don't know what) has gone wrong.

So for the time being I'm using the non-HD box as it...

Hi, things will be moving quite quick in the next 1/2 weeks, here is my new and final plan for the install.

This is where the dish will live. I am hoping to pick up a 11ft piece of Jarrah tomorrow, the Jarrah will be a stabiliser and take any movement out of the pole, it will also be acting as part of a wooded gazebo that I will be building at a later date ,

I will be burring the Jarrah to a depth of about 3ft, bolted to the bottom of the wood will be a 4ft ish piece of steel around 4/5 inch...

Fixed dish & multibracket or semi-motorised?

HI ALL

OK. I have given this problem with my knackered dish motor some serious thought and I have decided this may be the better solution for me. If all is well with my Gibby 1m dish, I'll get the dedicated bracket. I can maybe put my old Zone 2 dish on 16E and have three positions on the multibracket say 19.2e, 13e, and a third position to be decided. I would like more, but I only have a 4-way DISEQC switch.

An alternate plan is for a new dish motor and smaller 80cm dish for a few...

Took dish and motor down today.

HI ALL

This afternoon I have taken the dish/motor assembly down due to all the bother I have been having. When I inspected the motor stub I got a nasty surprise. With all the high winds and the dish getting a battering, the nut and bolt what goes though and holds the stub was extremely loose which is why I couldn't lock on properly to all the satellites. Hmm. My neighbour would have loved me if that thing had dropped! But, in a roundabout way, this has done me a favour and now I can site...

Well, I have finally made a start on sorting things out dish-wise. I have installed the L bracket to one of my ham radio antenna masts. The part where the motor will be seated is 6-7 inches away from the fence and by the time the motor goes on to that and then the dish to the motor stub, it should give a good clearance for the Gibby 1m.

I have also down-sized the Freesat dish to a Triax TD64 from the TD78 which will need realigning. I was going to put the TD78 outside the bedroom window but...

Allignment issue

Hi,
I am having problems setting up my system. Im fairly clued up on what to do, but think I need some more advise.
I have an 80cm motorised dish setup, using USALS and have set it up correctly as far as I can tell.
My Lat and Long is in correctly, as is azimuth/elevation etc.
The ZERO degrees point for the motor is set to due south, and I am using thor 0.8 as my guide.
USALS gets thor 0.8 with a signal strength of around 70-75 and I can go to hotbird at 13, and get a similar SNR.
After that...

Got my hands on another CM120 today View attachment 76208 . Man, it's mount is so rusty! View attachment 76206 Impossible to unscrew any single screw, just angle-grinder helps View attachment 76201 . Strange, but previous owner said to me that actuator works.... maybe it works but I doubt it can turn this... o_O That was ground mount in the set, I think this is only one piece here which does not need lot of refurbishment View attachment 76200 . All actuator fixing screws are rusted and some...

Decided to make separate thread about this antenna, to collect as much as possible information, share experience of using this elderly product of Sweden, and to have some discussions.
Antenna's data-sheet is here.
On attached picture is my antenna when it was temporarily installed in yard of seller to take picture and to show to potential buyers. I did see such antenna installed at my friend's house, but he...

Quick Question

HI EVERYONE

The L bracket I am using is about 8 inches from the fence. The motor will be clamped to that and then I will have the gibby dish. Would 8 inches away from the fence be enough? I just wonder as I don't want the dish banging into the fence. The maximum I would get would be 46e so it's not like it going to turn all the way around. Your thoughts please :)

The 2 A/B switches ordered from Amazon have arrived ..
One was destined to form part of the chain supplying the 2 TBS cards
TBS6925 and TBS 6983 ...thus make it auto select the input to whichever card was needed ..
Simples ..
So did a quick scan of the Newnet ka band and grabbed a screen cap ..
Then very quickly introduced the switch into the chain
Only the TBS6983 in use at this point ..
Master port used ...
Another quick scan and screen grab ..
See attachments ..
Odd indeed that the scan...

Hi All,

I'm new here :)

Could someone please help me out? I'm about to install a new satellite system in my house and I've been thinking of getting 3 separate LNBs on a single dish for Astra 28.2E, Astra 19.2E and Hotbird 13.0E. Could someone please advise what dish size I need to get and maybe recommend a good dish along with a holder for those LNBs? I live in Manchester.

Thansk a lot!
