Finally....all sorted!

Thank god it's all been put right. It was decent chap (must have been in his mid 60's) who sorted it all out and he put much longer bolts in to hold it all securely as the other ones were pretty rubbish and not very tight. The pole is lower and in true and was metered by a decent alignment meter. He only charged £70 for sorting it out and he was here for over 3 hours. It just proved one thing to me that there is some good installers out there, but quite a few bad ones too. Last week I was...

Hi been around setting up various sats from Italy to the UK for the last few years, Anyhow I am back in Italy down deep south. I have my kids coming over and I have turned the 80cm dish I have here to astra 2n getting some of the channels not bad I think the lnb has seen better days so I am going to replace it, I noticed as usual some of the kids channels like pop and tiny pop are on Eutelsat 28A but as I am pointing at astra which is 28.2 the signal from Eutelsat 28.5 is pretty bad, I have a...

Satellite TV setup 4 LNB and 2 Receivers

I would like to ask a question about a satellite TV setup.
Firstly, I should let you know that I don't have a comprehensive view of the setup, because it's a residential main setup in the roof of an apartment building on which I don't have access to. I know though that there are 4 LNBs in the same sat cable for each apartment. In my house I need to setup 2 receivers in 2 different sats of theirs and have them work at the same time. I asked some local electronics shops what can I do and I used...

After getting all the bits I needed together I have finally got round to setting up my Channel Master 1.2m. It is on a fixed azel mount on a 3" pole NPRM placed on the ground and will be used solely for 7W. I have not permanently fixed the NPRM as I am looking for the best place to site it out of view, when I have I will fix through the NPRM into the concrete path on one side of my house.

I am using an Inverto black ultra single lnb on the 1.2m, my motorised 1.0m also has an ibu, but it is a...

German TV on Sky satellite with separate receivers...?

I had ordered a German HD TV satellite set up which was installed last week. I asked for it to be on a separate dish out of view from the street because I live in a conservation area. We already have a Sky dish that was erected before the area was changed which was allowed after much complaining so I don't think the council would have been happy to see another one pop up. I also opted for a separate dish because they told me it would be an extra £85 for a custom one to take both services....

LNB's aiming point

Hi! I have device ready for checking where exactly LNB is pointing. Why it is important.... because, without pointing to right point you will never get maximum of your antenna. Sometimes, even on brand new antennas central LNB is not in the correct position. Of course, it is still possible to tune this antenna to maximum signal, but, unfortunately this maximum could be not real maximum.
Another question is how to find out where LNB should be pointed. On PFA aiming point is directly in...

using splitters before multiswitches

I need to set up multi receivers using multiswitch.
I plan to use splitters before two multiswitches.
However, the two multiswitches are different kinds, one 5 inputs and the other 9 inputs.
If the two multiswitches are the same kind, I understand I can use splitter between quad lnb and multiswitches as long as each of the output of the splitters go to the same input of multiswitch.
In my case, I am using different multiswitches, will it work?
4 input uses 12v/18v and 22k/0k. 8 input uses...

2 way internet by sat in the Scottish borders?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I was out poking about in the borders at the weekend and came across a house with what looked like a 2 way dish aimed about 10 degrees to the east of a sky dish, it looked similar to the ones you see outside of lottery shops.

Is this what it is? What sat would it be pointed at?

I was thinking it might have been installed by someone from here, possibly analoguesat?

Viasat pl channels

Hi all

I have an official viasat package. However I was checking tonight and the PL extra channels seem to have disappeared. I have checked with my source in Denmark and apparently they should be still there and should start on channel 116 on the official receiver. They are also listed on lyngsat. Does anyone have any ideas of what I should do to recover them on the official receiver.

Thanks

Trev

Time to tune your antennas

Hi folks! Just a friendly reminder, that in couple of weeks real possibility is coming to check whether your antenna installed on correct place. That also could be good opportunity to look for good place for new installation. Approximately from 8 to 15th October (depending on location) sun outage effects will be present. One of those effects will be drop of signal level up to full "Malevich" on TV screen :) Do not afraid of this, it is normal.
Of course, to check installation place of antenna...

Sat Dish - Focal Point

Hello,

I have a 144 inch dish, with 24 inch depth. According to the Focal Length calculation (D*D/16*d)
I should have a focal length of 54 inch.
However the current set up has Feed legs that mount the scalar rings to 58 inches.
A 4 inch offset is huge when dealing with microwaves.

I am scratching my head why it is 4 inches off.

Has anyone heard of this before??

Ps- sorry for the imperial units... the Americans have brain washed me :)

SD Signal out of HDMI Port

Hi everyone,
I need to receive a Standard Definition signal out of the HDMI port. Because of the all set up I don't have other option. Do you know what receiver would allow me to do this ? I tested an Icecrypt S3200CCIHD but the SD is only fed on the Scart/CVBS ports.

Thanks for your help!

Another unknown motor

Got this motor today. Somebody was using it for Fibo90. Personally think it is little bit too weak for 90 cm antenna. It has small control unit with remote control and changes elevation and azimuth. Needs external 24V DC power supply. It works very quiet. Control unit connects to motor via same coax cable which goes to LNB. Trust said it could be OK to use it for surveillance camera. I think, it is also possible to move terrestrial antenna with this unit.
