Jaeger 1224 restoration/modification

OK, have this motor laying on balcony already several days, but did not do much with it. First of all, motor is quiet old and has lots of oxidation and corrosion. Secondly, many screws, nuts and bolts are stuck in their places and when you start to unscrew them, they easily break. For example, one of three bolts fixing upper plate lost its head during transportation. I tried to unscrew another 2 and seems they are also going to beak. Same happened with one of four screws securing plastic cup...

Hi Guys,

Since getting my 1.2m dish ive been able to get satellites more west, one of them is Intelsat 905. To cut a long story short iam having problems scanning 11495 V 44100 DVB-S2 on my Spiderbox 7000 HD even though the signal is really strong and iam able to lock. I cant see any other working frequencies so i dont know whether its a problem with this specific satellite. Other satellites/channels are working fine and iam able to scan in new channels.

Bit of a strange one but any help...

Got my first 100ml of Lithium Grease inside Christinas actuator...with no waste or spillage ..
That 100ml syringe was a sound investment..
Injected through the drain hole after reducing the syringe nozzle about 0.5mm OD diameter..
will run the screw from limit to limit between fills ..but hoping to get at least half a kilo in there..
Nice..
Took a break from filing ally ..and with the weather about to change ..
seemed like the right time.

I'm looking to add a second LNB to my zone 2 skydish to watch the f1 on 19.2 (currently centred on 28.2) but am failing to see how to get what i've bought to fit, I have bought this bracket and fitted a new second LNB to it:

Here is my dish on the wall (pointed to 28.3e), but there is so little room around the LNB bracket - how can I fix it? I can slide the bracket over but there is no way the bolt with fit to hold it.

Am slightly bored and want to know the answer to this question:

How long is the LNB arm on a 85cm dish roughly? Need to know to know how much 4 lnb cable to buy for going from lnb to diseqc switches.

Metropolitan Opera on Satellite

Hi folks,

I wonder if there is anyone who can possibly help with a question about seeing broadcasts of opera performances relayed to Europe.

I have a friend who will be moving soon to Europe (Spain to be exact) who has been told by a fellow opera fan that he has a setup that can receive opera simulcasts on his home Sat system. I am guessing it will possibly on Eutelsat or something but have no clue about which satellite it might be, who is broadcasting it, whether a subscription might be...

Hello to all

I have at last got down to setting up a 120cm dish from 2Galli with inverto black ultra pointing at astra 2

and...sad to say I get nothing ,only the same depressing 4%,no move in reception whatsoever

Of course I did the routine checks,,setting up of receiver to a second dish, ....cable (changed it),lnb(same, used one from the otherdish),connection to the receiver

I aligned it ,copying the alignment of my old 80cm no-name dish, that manages to get me the SD channels, and when the...

Why is it when they make a narrow feed 23mm neck LNB do they make the body fatter than the neck? Why don't they make the whole thing thin?

Trying some time ago to build the best C-Ku lnb combo , I noticed that a DE plate disturb the linear C and Ku signals . So I decided to make a 3 lnb changer , C-Lin - C-Circ and Ku .
For C-Circ the "bottle" depolariser with stubs was the most effective to my set-up .
However its performance change by the frequency , some signals improved by pulling the "bottle" a little bit out of the wavepipe .
Since the only at my location receiveble (120 cm dish) C-Lin signals dissapeared ( 10º E) there...

Dish Maintenance

We haven't had a Maintenance related Topic for a good while, so what I found today whilst prowling the farm trying to get inspiration for a major re-jig might form a worthy basis for a new discussion.

I have two H-H DiSEqC Motorised Installations here, one being a five year old Fortec Turner (Motek Clone) on a Patio Mount, driving a TD110 and the other a seven year old Motek on an exposed gable end, driving a modest 80cm dish.

I have been debating putting the TD110 back up on the gable end...

Reinforcing Jaeger 1224 EL for Inclined Orbit

Hi,

Would anyone please be able to provide details of the modification to a Jaeger 1224 EL motor where it is reinforced for inclined orbit tracking? Its the strengthening of the case I am referring to, not the fitting of the shipped brackets that enable inclined orbit tracking.

I think the modification involves strengthening of the lower casing cast metal frame so that it is less likely to break at the point where the inclined orbit jack attaches to it. I recall that when the motors were in...

A New Old Dish

As mentioned elsewhere, today is the day I was finally (after several years of waiting) allowed to remove an old dish/motor and ancillaries from a tenanted farm property up the road.

Despite rusty fasteners and a couple of snapped wall fixings, it only took about an hour.

So what I have acquired is a dish 106cm*98cm (Not yet identified make), a Geotrack Silent Gold 99 36v motor, a pair of 12" T&K (In surprisingly good nick), plus a farmyard length of 4 core and ditto coax.

Haven't the...

Gilbertiny dishes are some of well regarded at the market
I am curious to know from owners Is that reputation really true
for example Channel master dishes are much stronger at first look
I like to ask Gilbertiny 1.5 m dish owners - Is this dish highly recommended In terms of gain and reliability
have someone measured gain of Gilbertiny 1.5 compared to standard 1.8 PFA

Alternative is to buy new feed-bearing arms. Should not be necessary...
