What is the best way to repair a warped dish?

Hello friends,

I have a prime focus 6ft DH spun dish.
It was stored wrongly by standing it on its edge insted of face down.
When sringing the strings do not meet.

Is it better to store it on its face with weigt oits back or drilling two holes on the on the longer sides and using a steel cable to pull it back to shape?

I am sure that you will have some better solutions?

Thinking about getting another dish. Dose anyone have info on the Valustar 1.5 meter fron ASC Signal? Is it better than a 1.2m Channel master type dish with matching feedhorn?

I see RD100 had or was getting one I wonder how his tests got on?

I see from a listings site that Chelsea v QPR is FTA on ORTB on 5 west. I live in Surrey, what chance do I have of getting this with an 80cm dish? Cheers.

Hi,

Would anyone please be able to advise me if Optical actuators for a satellite dish are still available?
Or, can the reed switch in an actuator simply be replaced with an optical switch? I know the 5V wire needs to be connected for optical but I am not sure if it is possible to "mod" a reed model to an optical model.

I am looking for a short stroke length optical actuator, maximum stroke of 10 inches but 8 inch or 6 inch models considered. The only SuperJack short stroke length actuators...

Elevation help needed for 1.8m offset dish (Malta)

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of setting up the dish in the attached photos.

I bought it second hand and only a few miles from where i live therefore I expected the elevation to be more or less accurate, however, the information I have found on the internet from many different sources tells me that the dish was elevated much higher than it should be.

I have the base set up accurately...

Hi,

I have just been reading the Motek H180 Motor topic where a couple of contributors have added elevation control for inclined orbit satellites. From reading this topic there is a view that if the elevation actuator is introduced as a replacement for the main elevation adjustment screw then at the arc extremes it is only a skew adjustment and that correct motorisation should be on the declination offset angle?

Is this correct? if I look at my Jaeger 1224, the declination offset adjustment...

I've finally had time between work, weather and other hobby things to set up this Moteck motor so here's a review on it so far along with some photos and an opinion or two. I bought it from one of the board sponsors RAD for £160 which isn't cheap but probably less than the Gibertini polar mount and the 36" HD actuator that I'd need to get 70E-63W.

Some satellites, in particular Turksat 42 E not receiving a signal anymore

Hi,
I have a motorised satellite system which generally works fine for me. I've had it for several years, but up until several months ago I started receiving no signal messages on every single channel on Turksat 42 E. I've never in the past had any problems with Turksat other than a weak signal on some channels. I could still receive many of its channels with a good signal. I did a full reset of my Phoenix Apollo satellite receiver and then added the latest transponders and tried scanning...

Replacement Eye stud for 1.2M Gibertini?

As the title, where might I be able to obtain a Stainless equivalent of the declination fine adjuster for the Giby? It measures M8x170MM although only needs to be 90MM from threaded tip to centre of eye.

The original is obviously BZP as mine is now DRK (Dull, Rusty and Knackered) and I'm fed up with continually coating it in grease and having to wire brush it to stop it seizing up.

Standard eye bolts are too large in the eye to fit the gap behind the reflector support, I've found marine wire...

Chanced across these on ebay today.
They look like Prodelin to me, but could be some Chinese clones, I suppose. Or for some non-Ku band??
It will be interesting to see what opening angle they have, and what the flange interface is. (Seems to be six screws, not eight). And the neck seems a tad short...
Will post more pics when they arrive.
Any suggestions as to what make they might be?

Greetings everyone,
My brother has just moved to a new building and he's found this beauty on the roof. There's only another neighbour in the house so he can fiddle with the dish.
There's another knackered dish lying on the tiles. But Will this Ikusi Dish help to get Astra 2.
According to him it's huge in size but I'm not familiar with that type of lnbs. What kind is it and can I fit a universal LNB instead?
Is it easy to adjust to 28.5 manually or will I need some expert tools to do it?

Hi there, Firstly, thanks for adding me. I'm based in Almeria spain and thinking of doing some installing to supplement my other work.
The going rate round here is 700-800 Euro's for a fitted 1.9 Famaval. Can someone please tell me what the trade price is on the purchase of these dishes along with the stand please????

newbi hi All. Would like some help please just got new twin LMB but now need one more cable for anther TVwhich as built in sat,is it Posable to put a splitter in one of the two cables and run cable number three to the other tv?and if so which cable number one or two these go to my Humax foxsat.
Hope this is in right place!.
PS:If it will work which splitter please.

Lost Penta U bolt and bracket

Hi Forum. Need a bit of advice please.

I have given a Penta 68cm to a friend, which he intends to motorise but we've lost one of the 90ml u-bolts and brackets that comes with it. I've uploaded a picture of the one that we do have.

Any idea where I could get a replacement?

Does anyone have any suggestions about a 6 degree monobloc to go onto a zone 2 for Hotbird and Astra 1? I know there's plenty of threads about this sort of thing but I'd like to know if there's an easy solution to this - something which doesn't involve lots of braketry and customisation!

i have a fortec star innovation hd with motorised dish, i have lost all "H" channels and i cant move my dish to different satellites every time i reset my channels i get all channels but then horrizontal channels break up then i loose them all is this water ingress or the lnr failing and if its the cable is there a person in the manchester area that can replace the cable/lnr for me.

Thanks all for the help and advice in my recent posts. Much appreciated.

I finished installing my Zone 2 yesterday at the new house and got my TNTsat box working well with the dish pointing at 19.2e

I bought this particular box when I was last in France because I wanted the French channels and the TNTsat card is required.

My new TV has a generic sat receive built in and I'm able to receive all the FTA stuff without bothering with the TNTsat box (which is SD only and a...

I have a L+R ku lnb and its lo is 10.75

So what do I set the

Lof/l & Lof/h & threshold to please.

The LNB was one I have to try the L+R ku out.

Hi Everyone,
I was playing with satellite Tv back when Sky was FREE so I'm getting on a bit and the old grey matter is wearing thin.
Problem: I've had a Manhattan Plaza ST350 for a few years now but haven't used it in about 8yrs so I don't know if it's still a viable project or what.
Can anyone tell me if it is and give some advice as to what I need now to enjoy all that TV.
Along with the receiver, I've got a Dragon Cam with the little SIM card on it and an Infinity USB phoenix compatible card...

Motorised System Installation Help

My usual Dish installer has gone to scotland to work until March, so i decided to try the install myself..

First of all my Co-Ords
51N *.*W

After taking my old motorised system down (I say taking down it was more like falling down) I purchased new motor, dish and lnb.
My motor set to 51 latitude, dish elevation 21 degrees, using USALS on my Amiko Alien pointing towards 28.2 E my signal Level 90%, signal quality 0%.

Here is the problem, motor turns to where USALS tells it i still get 90%...
