Hi first of all its my first post so greetings to every body.
my issue is about setting up the reciever but I dont know if I am in the right area. I would like to explain properly so that I may get the help I require. I live in the UK and moved to a new sets of blocks. Inside the blocks there is a socket which has SAT1 SAT2 SAT3 and a phone socket. So that means the dish is already installed all I need was a reciever. I brought a reciever (Next&nextstar HD minix Cool blue) and it only has 1 lnb...

Setting up CM 1.8m on motorised polar mount

Howdy!

Finally got the CH 1.8m dish, (Progress previously: https://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/threads/1-8m-raven-install-begins.161028/)

Couple of questions..

From what I understand I have to set it up on the polar mount due south, so 0.8w satellites for my position in Scotland. What about the motor? Out of the box its fully retracted, so if I pop it on once all aligned at 0.8w it would only extend in one direction? Wouldnt I need to fit it half way extended.

Probably going to...

Chanced across these on ebay today.
They look like Prodelin to me, but could be some Chinese clones, I suppose. Or for some non-Ku band??
It will be interesting to see what opening angle they have, and what the flange interface is. (Seems to be six screws, not eight). And the neck seems a tad short...
Will post more pics when they arrive.
Any suggestions as to what make they might be?

OK, have this motor laying on balcony already several days, but did not do much with it. First of all, motor is quiet old and has lots of oxidation and corrosion. Secondly, many screws, nuts and bolts are stuck in their places and when you start to unscrew them, they easily break. For example, one of three bolts fixing upper plate lost its head during transportation. I tried to unscrew another 2 and seems they are also going to beak. Same happened with one of four screws securing plastic cup...

Metropolitan Opera on Satellite

Hi folks,

I wonder if there is anyone who can possibly help with a question about seeing broadcasts of opera performances relayed to Europe.

I have a friend who will be moving soon to Europe (Spain to be exact) who has been told by a fellow opera fan that he has a setup that can receive opera simulcasts on his home Sat system. I am guessing it will possibly on Eutelsat or something but have no clue about which satellite it might be, who is broadcasting it, whether a subscription might be...

Blowing a Fuse

I bought a new lnb for my sky dish this week an 8 port lnb. Also bought new cable to go with it. I hooked three of my sky boxes up no problem. When i hook the fourth one by screwing the cable into the sky box my 15 amp fuse at the fuse box blows. I changed the wire to another of the lnb ports and yet again my fuse blows. I havent tried it in one of the ports that works yet. Im just wandering could this be a faulty lnb, faulty wire or is it the sky box or could be any of them. Very strange

I appreciate some advice if anyone is kind enough to help me.

I am moving into a new house soon, I would like to keep my satellite dish's but would like to do the following:

I'd like to have 6 sky hd points around the house with the possibility to add more at a later date, I would also like the same option for my motorised setup (however 6 will be way to many). However I have found a multi switch that will allow 2 sat systems, and has the capability of 32 outputs. Will I be able to connect...

Unusual dish - what could it be?

On ebay (item 281564035654 ), there is an unusal looking dish for sale.
Very unusual shape.
Seems to have waveguide(s) instead of LNBs leading to the back of the dish.
Clearly not for sat-reception, but what could it be??
(I dare speculate the seller does not know either!)

Nice dish what is it please ?

OK, as I got more or less enough 120cm antennas I am going to perform some tests of them this year. Only plastic dishes will participate in this competition, I also have couple of 120cm metal dishes, but, most likely will not add them to this test.
#1 - CM120;
#2- NSC 120 (Made in West Germany, means quiet old one);
#3 - Cēsu 120 (Latvian product);
#4- Visiosat 120 (hope to have it this week);
And maybe also #5 Echostar 120 (if I manage to find one at all).
So, my testing steps will be:

Measuring angles

Hi! I have idea to make some device to be able to measure vertical leaning angle of satellite dish very precisely, I mean with precision 0,01*. I have digital protractor which provides 0,1* precision. But what if I need 0,01*? So, purely mechanical tool, at least 2,5 meters in lengths. Do some of you have experience making such a tool?
